From February 28, 2012 till March 1including an international congress “Modernism in Caucasia – Tbilisi, Baku, Yerevan (1900-1949, Fine Arts, Theatre, Cinema and Architecture)” was held in Florence, Italy.
The congress was hosted by the foundation of Romualdo del Bianco “Life Beyond Tourism”. From Georgian part the organizers of the congress were: Tbilisi State Academy of Art; the Georgian State Museums of Theatre, Music, Cinema and Choreography; the George Chuninashvili National Research Centre for Georgian Art History and Heritage Preservation; the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
The aim of the congress was to reveal Modernist processes which took place in southern Caucasian capitals in the first part of the 20th century.
Scholars from Georgia, Azerbaijan and England took part in the scientific sessions. Speakers from the G. Chubinashvili National Centre were: Maia Mania, Marina Medzmariashvili, Nino Chogoshvili and George Khoshtaria.
In the frames of the congress was shown a film “My Grandmother”; was organized an exhibition of photo prints of the materials kept in the funds of the Georgian Theatre, Music, Cinema and Choreography Museums. Also in the frames of the congress were organized visits to the Florentine museums and architectural monuments.
